Security Best Practices for SLTT Judicial Entities
U.S. State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) judicial entities face a formidable and unique cybersecurity threat landscape. These threats arise due to the significant role SLTT judicial organizations play in our communities, their possession of sensitive data, their often-segmented IT support structures, and their often-limited resources and training. These gaps make them desirable targets for cyber threat actors (CTAs). Examples include the risk of significant societal disruption from attacks on judicial proceedings as well as the potential financial and trust implications of data breaches.
This report is published both to help SLTT judicial entities mature their cybersecurity programs and to satisfy a requirement of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 regarding State Court Electronic Data.
