CIS Benchmarks October 2022 Update
The following CIS Benchmarks have been updated or recently released. We've highlighted the major updates below. Each Benchmark includes a full changelog that references all changes.
Four New CIS Benchmarks
We are excited to release four new Benchmarks this month! These are as follows:
- CIS Azure Compute Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Benchmark v1.0.0
- CIS Debian Linux 11 Benchmark v1.0.0
- CIS Fortinet Benchmark v1.0.0
- CIS Ubuntu Linux 22.04 LTS Benchmark v1.0.0
A huge thank you to the Microsoft, Linux, and Fortinet communities for making these releases happen. Without the CIS communities' invaluable contributions, these Benchmarks would not be possible.

Update: CIS Microsoft 365 Foundations Benchmark v1.5.0
Here is a brief glimpse of what we did to improve the value of this Benchmark:
- Moved, added, and renamed several sections due to changes in the Microsoft 365 Commercial Cloud
- Where applicable, PowerShell remediation is now using V2 cmdlets over V1
- Updated 30 recommendations
- Moved two recommendations
- Removed two deprecated recommendations (Skype for Business)

Update: CIS Microsoft Edge Benchmark v1.1.0
Here is a brief glimpse of what we did to improve the value of this Benchmark:
- Moved, added, and renamed several sections due to updated ADMX templates
- Added 38 new settings
- Updated four settings
- Removed nine settings
