Times Union Names CIS as a Top Workplace for the Fifth Time
East Greenbush, N.Y.
April 17, 2019
CIS® (Center for Internet Security, Inc.) announced today that it had been named a 2019 Top Workplace among mid-sized companies by the Times Union for the fifth time.
“I’m honored, especially because the judges were our employees. Our leadership team continually strives to make CIS one of the best work environments not only in Albany but in the entire country,” said John Gilligan, CIS President & CEO. “It is gratifying to see our staff vote in support of our efforts to create the best workplace possible.”
Enhancements to the CIS benefits programs made in 2018, include a paid volunteering program and improved extended bonding leave benefits for new parents. CIS also prioritized the integration of a progressive performance management system that supports engagement and professional development.
CIS added 63 new full-time employees in 2018, and the organization’s workforce increased 36 percent to a total of 176 employees.
The Times Union partnered with Philadelphia-based Energage to determine the Capital Region’s Top Workplaces. The results are based solely on an employee survey process.
Starting in September 2018, the Times Union welcomed anyone to nominate companies as Top Workplaces. Energage also reached out to companies. Any employer was eligible, as long as it had at least 35 employees in the region. Employers could be public, private, nonprofit, or governmental.
Employers are categorized in groups of similar size to most accurately compare results. Within those large, midsize and small groupings, companies are ranked based on employee feedback survey scores, and those that score high enough are recognized as Top Workplaces.
