Debian Linux 8, 9 CIS Hardened Images Available on Cloud
CIS Builds Debian Configuration Security Community
EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y., Aug. 19, 2019 – CIS® (The Center for Internet Security, Inc.) today announced the release of CIS Hardened Images® for Debian Linux 8 and Debian Linux 9 on three major cloud service providers. Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, Microsoft Azure Marketplace, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Marketplace now offer more ways to bring the globally recognized security configuration recommendations of the CIS Benchmarks™ to the cloud through CIS Hardened Images.
The CIS cloud security team created the CIS Hardened Images for Debian Linux 9 based on security configuration recommendations from the CIS Benchmarks community. These images use strong ciphers to provide confidentiality and integrity, further ensuring system data is not compromised.
“Having a robust volunteer community for the CIS Benchmarks enables development of consensus-based secure configuration guidance for the Debian operating system and provides a secure image in the cloud marketplace,” said Curtis Dukes, CIS Executive Vice President of Security Best Practices & Automation Group. “We are excited to be able to offer these new CIS Hardened Images on the three major cloud service providers.”
CIS offers virtual images hardened in accordance with the CIS Benchmarks, a set of vendor agnostic, internationally recognized secure configuration guidelines. CIS Hardened Images provide users a secure, on-demand, and scalable computing environment. They are available from major cloud computing platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
CIS Hardened Images for Linux are updated every month to ensure incorporation of applicable new operating system patches.
