CIS Presents Second Annual President’s Award
Senior Director of Security Operations and Intelligence Randy Rose receives prestigious honor
EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y., and WASHINGTON D.C., December 9, 2022 – The Center for Internet Security, Inc. (CIS®) has named Randy Rose, Senior Director of Security Operations and Intelligence, 2022’s winner of the annual President’s Award for demonstrating outstanding performance and leadership.
Established in 2021, the President’s Award recognizes one CIS staff member each year who exhibits exemplary leadership not only in their role but across the organization. The recipient must also have made outstanding contributions and shown a commitment to the CIS mission and 12 leadership principles, including actively engaging and enabling others to realize their full leadership potential.
Randy Rose started at CIS as Director of Intelligence in June 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, he has led several teams, including the Cyber Threat Intelligence and Liaison Analyst teams and earned respect across the organization for his leadership and ability to help others grow and learn.
“Honestly, it was a complete shock and I’m still not sure how I got picked!”, he says.” It’s hard to decide what is the most rewarding aspect of winning: that it was a peer-nominated award, or that I was chosen amongst a cadre of employees who all meet the criteria. So many people here go above and beyond every single day, it’s just mind-blowing. Ultimately, I think I am a very visible person in this organization due to my position, but it is the work of my teams that put me out front as a contender. I have been in defensive cyber operations for almost 20 years now and this is by far the most talented, most collaborative, and most dedicated, dependable group of professionals I have ever led, hands down. This award really belongs to them.”
Outside of CIS, Randy plays at least six instruments, including bass guitar for the rock band Gracie’s Paris. You can often catch him playing in New York’s Capital Region venues and entertaining at CIS company parties. He lives in Southern Saratoga County with his high school sweetheart and wife of 18 years, their three kids, and a guinea pig.
You can learn more about Randy, including why he is committed to mentoring others and a possible new addition to his family in 2023.
In addition to the President’s Award, Project Manager (and chief cat herder) Ron Burgin, Associate Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst Nasreen Poptani, and Cyber Threat Intelligence Manager TJ Sayers have been named 2022 Star Performers for their contributions and dedication to the CIS Leadership Principles.
