Center for Internet Security Donates Laptops, Empowering the Community Through Education and Technology

CIS Cares celebrates 518 Day by supporting the Connect Center

EAST GREENBUSH. N.Y., May 24, 2023 —  As part of the 518 Day activities across the Capital Region, the Center for Internet Security’s employee volunteer program, CIS Cares, has presented 15 recycled laptops to the Connect Center in Cohoes, NY.

The Connect Center is a community hub for connection and empowerment, which offers free educational programs and essential resources, with the mission to break the cycle of poverty by connecting young people to their full potential. The laptops will be used to support the Connect Center’s summer technical programs in their STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) lab, including computer-based coding, LEGO league coding, 3D printing, digital arts, and more.

CIS Cares is an employee volunteer program within the Center for Internet Security, Inc. (CIS®), which aims to leverage the skills, time, and resources of the organization and its people to produce positive and impactful outcomes within our communities and across the country.

518 Day was started by the United Way of the Greater Capital Region to provide opportunities for individuals, families, and groups to be part of the solution to building a more resilient Capital Region through volunteerism and community impact. It is the largest single day of community impact in New York’s Capital Region.

For more information, or to speak with CIS about the awards, contact Kelly Wyland, Media Relations Manager at [email protected] or call/text 518-256-6978.
